First was a codility proctored exercise for 90 minutes. There were around 4 levels, problrm was that if you got stuck in level 2 you could not get to lvl 3 and 4.
The tool was not the best. Did not proceed further after a 600/1000 score
Started with technical assessment via code signal which was kind of uncomfortable. Monitoring by camera/microphone/screen share, ID upload, selfie, etc. A lot of work to keep someone in a high pressure environment but I think standards are "loose" here. They just want to know you can code and it's probably all automated. This was followed by recruiter intro, then virtual on-site of 3 interviews.
Got rejected and recruiter was happy enough to provide feedback. Feedback reflected engineers that were very nit-picky and were looking for a specific solution. Positive signals during the interview, but completely different story in how they perceived my performance.
My casual conversations/questions with engineers felt like nails on a chalkboard. No interest. Perhaps because they're not excited to run these interviews. This felt like a red flag and the reality is that Dropbox has fallen off a cliff in terms of external appeal.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Dropbox in Feb 2025
Interview
Online assessment, then recruiter call, and two part (3 interviews each) onsite.
You only move on to day 2 of onsite if you did well in day 1. After that it goes to hiring committee if you did well on part 2.
The recruiters at this company are extremely dishonest. Mine was gaslighting and misleading me into thinking I was doing well and that there was an offer incoming, but I got rejected after a long wait. The hiring manager was equally two-faced and duplicitous.
I heard all of the following from recruiter "feedback looks great, congrats!!", "feedback looks positive! You'll hear from us early next week!", and from HM in interview "we need someone with your skills and background!" and "we will reach back to you soon!". Only to find 2 weeks later after no comms that the team was "weighing their options" and that "concerns/feedback was highlighted at committee" -> translation they went with someone else and kept me "warm" with dishonest bs.
