Happy Juneteenth! While President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st, 1863, the gravity of that law didn't become a reality for the entire nation until the Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, on June 19th, 1865 and ensured all enslaved people were free. For Breana, one of our National Services employees, "A moment as magnanimous as Juneteenth should be celebrated far and near as a constant reminder that this land was made for you and me" & we couldn't agree more. 🤎

Recently over 500 ALDI volunteers from our National Services offices came to Northern Illinois Food Bank to pack over 5,500 disaster relief boxes. These boxes are distributed out across the Feeding America network to ensure families and individuals impacted by natural disasters do not have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.
