They'll Train You Well — For Someone Else - Logistics Account Executive Total Quality Logistics Employee Review

Pros

Training is thorough and well-structured, one of the stronger onboarding programs you'll find. The tools and resources available to build your book of business are solid.

Cons

Office politics are a problem. Larger accounts go to people they like, not people who perform. The work-life balance issue isn't a minor inconvenience, it's the core deterrent of this role. This industry runs around the clock, early mornings, late nights, Saturdays, federal holidays. You will work outside standard hours, consistently. Burnout is common and not surprising given the structure. You're building a book of business with no real off switch and no commission for roughly the first year. The base pay sounds reasonable until you account for the hours. It isn't. That's a hard ask for anyone, let alone someone new to sales. Support for account reps is uneven. If you're not already a top performer, don't expect the same resources as one, unless you're a favorite.

Pros

1. The earning potential is very achievable and has a very competitive bonus structure on top of base salary. 2. I love that this is only a recruiting role. You don't have to do any HR or onboarding tasks, just focus on TA stuff. 3. We have structured career paths, and you can work your way through promotions, leadership, or into other areas of the business if you want to. 4. It's a great company to recruit for because you are selling great opportunities to candidate. There are tons of growth, stability, good culture, etc. so it's an easy sell to candidates. 5. The people are the best. Great teammates, great hiring managers, great leadership. If you are career driven and want to work around people that actually care and are passionate about their work, this is the place to be.

Cons

1. This is not really a con, but it's a very selective company and can be hard to hire for. There's a lot of misconceptions out there how TQL will hire anyone. That's not the case at all. It's actually the most selective company I've ever recruiter for. So, you are going to have to source and screen a lot of candidates to find the perfect skill and culture fit. This helps keep turnover down in the non-sales areas but can make it frustrating at times on the recruiting end. 2. Compensation ranges tend to be mid-market. Makes sense for size of the company, but when you are going to be really selective and the other benefits (medical/PTO/401k) aren't over the top, it can make it tough to close top candidates.
