Pros

Awesome place and people - complex and large finance operation and balance sheet yet still small enough to make an impact and build up solutions from the ground floor - creative place!

Cons

Sometimes can be stretched for more resources

Pros

To build full context, I am not a person that looks to jump from employer to employer. My intent was to find an organization that seeks to balance internal promotion while still bringing in fresh ideas from outside the organization. Though seemingly simple, that balance has been rare throughout my career. Most organizations seem to rely on either side of the scale, often with detrimental consequences to those that remain within the organization. I have been very happy with my work environment at PenFed. Throughout my time with the organization, I’ve seen consistent opportunities for growth and advancement, and leadership genuinely encourages employees to develop their skills and careers. PenFed continues to invest in creating a culture that supports employee growth while maintaining a collaborative and friendly atmosphere. The people are supportive, the work is meaningful, and the organization values both professional development and teamwork. Overall, it’s a great place to build a long‑term career.

Cons

Not a lot to add here, but that is not intended to state that the universe remains sunshine and rainbows. Every growing organization has faults, and those exist within PenFed too. However, my intent in the statement above is to say that the common issues, seen among all organizations, do not create enough of a distraction to the positives.

Pros

Great staff and middle management. Good benefits and facilities.

Cons

Upper Management - same tune as all the other reviews. This place is full of great people who don't know they are great. It's also full of bad leaders who think they are great. Unfortunately, the best performers are often rewarded with carrying the burden of underperformers and non-contributing leaders. In certain teams there is very limited in upward mobility. They are slow to weed out low performers and ineffective managers. All in, strong performers and high achievers might find this place frustrating. This is a place for those who like to coast through.
