Very unorganized and chaotic - Remote Medical Coder Omega Healthcare Employee Review

Pros

It's a job, and it can be good supplemental pay, IF you negotiate your rate at the beginning.

Cons

You have to call different IT departments to get your own accounts and even your own work laptop set up, and it takes up a lot of unnecessary time. The client doesn't respond in a timely manner so it is difficult to get information. You will be on a delayed start (being paid minimum wage per their policy) for possiblt weeks, and management will utlimately blame you for a delayed start when it is their fault that usernames and passwords are not provided. Management is heartless and only cares about the numbers. Also, don't bother giving them a two week notice. When you give them notice, your resignation begins immediately. But yet they will ask at the interview how you feel about giving a two week notice.

Pros

Omega pays competitively and based on experience with two performance based raises each year. The benefits are just okay, but that wasn’t a deal breaker for me. My schedule is completely flexible Monday-Sunday, I have an amazing and supportive manager who doesn’t even slightly micromanage. The QA process is very in depth and educational, I’ve been abstracting for 3 years before this role andi felt like I learned SO much just after one QA of 5 cases. Omega has a crazy amount of educational resources that are easily accessible.

Cons

They are well aware they their benefits are lacking, but they do attempt to make up for it with pay and HSA contributions when you utilize the high deductible plan.
