Tire Shop Supervisor
Position Summary
Oversees employees and coordinates activities of the Tire Shop. Oversees employees, coordinates activities and upholds
company and department standards. Promotes a high level of productivity and member service.
Job Duties/Essential Functions

● MERCHANDISING & INVENTORY: Understands and effectively applies department principles. Implements department
standards. Maintains a neat, clean, and professional working environment.
● MEMBER SERVICE: Ensures areas of responsibility have appropriate coverage to provide proper member service.
Emphasizes importance of good member service with employees; understands that it is job #1. Maintains a positive attitude
during difficult circumstances such as handling member, employee, and/or supplier concerns, etc. Finds ways to ensure
member concerns are addressed.
● ADMINISTRATION: Writes an appropriate schedule for department. Uses all information available to ensure efficiency and
productivity.
● MANAGING PERFORMANCE: Teaches employees how to do their jobs in the most efficient and effective manner.
Respectfully gives both corrective and positive feedback in a timely, specific manner, formally (Performance Logs,
Appraisals, Appreciation Notices, etc.) and informally (while performing work in the department, etc.). Ensures employees
demonstrate appropriate, professional work practices and behaviors; holds employees accountable when behavior is
contrary to policies and procedures. Clearly communicates expectations, tasks and goals in a way that employees
understand. Is fair and consistent in the application of all rules, standards, and policies.
● COMMUNICATION: Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner and adjusts
communication style to the audience (e.g., members, employees, VP, etc.). Uses communication tools (e.g. email, Google
Docs/Slides/Sites, texting) effectively, and in accordance with company policy. Actively asks questions to gain
understanding.
● SELF-MANAGEMENT: Displays a calm, professional demeanor including body language, facial expressions, and word
choices when criticized or provoked. Has a strong sense of urgency about getting work done and solving problems.

Agreement.
● Provides training, encouragement, advice, and feedback to tire shop employees. Assists in conducting job interviews.
Drafts and participates in presentation of employee reviews. Writes tire shop schedule. Reviews employee timecards.
● Observes employee performance and paperwork to determine that proper department procedures are followed. Upholds
safety and security procedures.
● Assists members with purchasing tires. Writes tire purchase and service invoice. Answers questions, makes
recommendations, provides and insures prompt and courteous member service.
● Drives member vehicle into service bay, assists with tire install and rotation as necessary, performs torque checks, drives
and parks member vehicle to lot after service.
● Communicates with tire shop manager, buyers, receiving department, and inventory auditors regarding special orders,
quantity, status, price, delivery, and promotion of merchandise.
● Upholds safety and security procedures. Follows release procedures, including a 10-point check, on tire installations to
authorize auto release.
● Coordinates and performs preventative maintenance and arranges repairs for machinery and equipment.
● Approves product refunds. Overrides and checks register codes. Verifies refund amount for certain types of warranties or
returns of tires and auto batteries.
● Monitors cleanliness of sales area and shop. Coordinates and participates in cleaning.
● Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials.
● Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
● Computer, calculator, cash register, phone, fax, copier, member automobile, balancer, torque wrench, dolly, mounter,
impact gun, hydraulic hoist and power jack.
Non-Essential Functions
● Assists in other areas of the department as necessary.
● Assists in other areas of the warehouse as necessary.
Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
● Cash register, tabletop/hand-held scanners, carts, flatbeds.
Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications
Required:
● Valid Driver’s License required.
● Must pass Costco Tire Certification and Costco torque test.
● HIPAA Training and Supervisors Orientation (within 30 days of hire); Leadership Development 101 (within one year); Costco
Pay Policies (within 90 days of promotion) Hazard Communication and JHA (initial assignment), Costco Hazardous
Materials DOT Training Course: Part 1 (within 30 days and then every year), Hazmat Universal Waste Training- Short
Version (within 30 days and then every year), Option STOP Training (within 30 days), Level 1 Food Safety Certification
(within 30 days), Food Handler's Permit (prior to working in a foods area and only where required by state or local
jurisdiction).
● Must be current on annual safety training within 30 days of hire.
Recommended:
● Supervisory experience preferred.
● Tire shop experience preferred.
● Tire product knowledge, customer service preferred.
● High School Diploma or GED preferred.
