As we continue to expand our product offerings and increase production capacity, we're looking for a talented Engineer II to join our growing Engineering Team. What You'll Do
As an Engineer II, you'll play a key role in supporting product development, quality assurance, and certification efforts across our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams to understand products, processes, and business objectives.
- Partner with nationally recognized laboratories and inspection agencies to maintain and update product certifications.
- Monitor quality control processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in the research, design, development, and testing of new and existing products.
- Develop and execute testing procedures for product validation, quality assurance, and R&D initiatives.
- Work directly with vendors to address quality concerns and support new product development efforts.
- Review and interpret technical documentation, including test standards, building codes, engineering specifications, and certification requirements.
- Generate detailed technical reports utilizing testing data, analysis, and market research findings.
- Maintain and manage product information within the company's ERP system.
- Create and review engineering drawings using SolidWorks or comparable CAD software.
- Support production teams by applying engineering principles related to mechanical, thermal, electrical, pneumatic, and material performance.
- Maintain organized engineering records and documentation.
- Promote a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, production, design, quality, or a related field.
- Strong CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred).
- Excellent technical writing skills (writing samples may be requested).
- Strong understanding of scientific methods and testing methodologies.
- Effective communication and reporting skills.
- Experience working with high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with automated and computerized production systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Schedule
Full-Time | Exempt
Typical schedule:
- Monday-Friday
- 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Occasional overtime and Saturday work as business needs require
This role requires travel between Solar Industries' Tucson manufacturing facilities and occasional out-of-town travel.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily within a manufacturing and warehouse environment. Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures, dust, fumes, odors, and elevated noise levels. Appropriate safety procedures and equipment are provided and required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach.
- Use hands and arms for handling tools, equipment, and materials.
- Operate standard office equipment and computers.
- Occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess the visual abilities necessary to review drawings, perform inspections, and operate equipment safely.
