Interview process went great - a bit long, but moved along quickly until the end. I had to present in person in Pittsburgh. Waited 3 weeks to get a final answer with rhetoric of candidates added to the process at the last minute, which was a huge turnoff after such a process. I was selected for the opportunity with no reason to be concerned about a background check as I have no criminal history and excellent employment background. I was informed 3 business days prior to my start date after turning down another opportunity, working through relocation details, giving notice to my employer and negotiating an early out on my lease that they were rescinding my offer due to my background check with the only item on the adverse notice as an unverified employer that I was able to provide proof for. When I asked for more detail I was given vague information. The worst and most heartbreaking part was the CEO's lack of contact. He was who I would be reporting to and he didn't have the decency to call me or reply to my attempts to understand what has happened here. I don't have accurate information on this because the adverse notice only indicated an employer verification with 7 days to reply and dispute. I replied immediately with proof of that employment as requested but received the rescission notice only 2 minutes after the "pre-adverse action notice" was sent. In a separate email unrelated to the adverse action notice I was asked about some collections account on my credit report with 5 different people CC'd on the email. I went through the hardest period of my life when my house caught fire and my husband passed away. which is why my credit took a hit back then and subsequently turned into collections from that time frame, which I was compelled to explain publicly for these 5 different people/groups on this email which was a terrible imposition on my privacy and very embarrassing. This company claims to have a caring culture and I can tell you this experience was not only not caring, but callous, rude and cowardly. This opportunity was pulling me out of my hard time and putting me back to where I was prior to my life turning upside down. This CEO claims to understand struggle, but I'm guessing he only understands it from a long distance away and has forgotten. Maybe only a struggle with an 800 credit score is a better caveat for explaining his level of caring and empathy. Their handling of this has impacted my life as I was working on transition with my family for this opportunity. After reviewing more on the organization, it seems I may have dodged a bullet but not before I was embarrassed and treated like I was suddenly irrelevant. There was a nonsense statement about card company compliances, all of which I'm fully aware of because I've worked for a much larger financial org in my recent past and had to pass more extensive clearances than this one. Moral of the story, beware. This was a painful experience when it was suddenly taken away without explanation, it uprooted my plans and forced me to quickly change direction. They handled it very very poorly. I'm disappointed that I was duped during the process and the outcome was costly to me.
