I saw the position and applied in August. I am very experienced in the field, and created a really nice personalized cover letter and everything, detailing why my experience was perfect for the role. I got a "Thanks but no thanks," email a week later, with no other communication and no consideration. I saw the position listed again two months later at the beginning of November, and I applied again. A month after that(now early December) they contacted me, not to interview, but to tell me I'd have to take a one-hour test to be considered. I took the test, and submitted it. Two weeks later, they contacted me, again, not to interview, but to tell me that everyone they gave the test to had missed exactly the same question, and that they MIGHT consider interviewing me AT SOME POINT. I have to say that the level of disrespect shown to applicants by this hiring process is probably more than any other company I've ever dealt with. It's now the day after Christmas, and the first time I applied there was August. They haven taken literally months to get back to me, and have required me to take a one-hour test to demonstrate my knowledge, and then weeks later they contacted me not to set up an interview, but to let me know that they MIGHT want to set up an interview AT SOME POINT in the future "but they aren't sure". It's now weeks later. What company calls up an applicant a month-and-a-half after applying and tells them that they MIGHT want to set up an interview but they're not sure? Look, I understand that it's around Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it wasn't when I first applied. I understand that this company has 4.6 stars for current employees, but the interview process has really left me feeling very jerked around by Dropbox. When they called me six weeks after I applied I at least thought they'd want to schedule an interview given how much time had passed, but to then say "We might want to interview you but we're not sure," and then to go another two weeks without contact feels like they're catfishing me. If you don't want to hire somebody then please don't string them along. Edit: And then they contacted me in January, another month later, to tell me that no, they didn't want to interview me, and that they weren't going to interview any of the people who had applied, because everyone had missed the same one question. Look, if someone's looking for a job, waiting a month between repeated contacts only to call them each time to tell them that no, you're not interested, is inappropriate.
