Two managers did a phone or virtual screen and were fast talking, I barely got details of the position, in terms of day-to-day. I asked clarifying questions, but just was left uncertain about several things. The on-site interview though all day and panel type, included leaders as well as pharmacists was a bit more of the same experience.
Interestingly, I had applied to two distinct positions having backgrounds in each and granted interviews in both. Both sets of hiring managers were aware, I had interviewed on back-to-back days for a Cleveland Clinic main campus position. (I must laugh now remembering I was mindful of not wanting to waste the company’s resources and sharing with the talent acquisition representative that it was okay to put the dual interviews close together in one trip. I even opted to stay at the less expensive InterContinental hotel near the campus. My heart and head were all in the right place.)
When the interviews ended, I was wished well and told to think things over and share the position I desired the most. I selected the cardiology pharmacist position. Cleveland Clinic was number one for cardiology care at the time and I factored that into my decision. I was offered, the lymphoma/multiple myeloma position and did not take that position at the time for several reasons.
Ironically, I ended up in Cleveland and did get hospital experience in lymphoma/multiple myeloma and loved supporting that patient group and providers.
When another posting for a Lymphoma/Multiple Myeloma Pharmacist at the same Cleveland Clinic site was posted recently, I applied and was turned down to move further in the application process relatively quickly.
I then applied for a Leukemia/BMT position, as I had been quite impressed and desired to work on the team with an MD, Dr. Hetty Carraway who was on my original interview panel for the lymphoma/multiple myeloma position. I have also obtained some experiences in leukemia and allogeneic stem cell transplant to date. The talent acquisition representative, shared, it is the same hiring manager and he would not consider my application. The preceding is after I had received an email noting the talent representative wanted me to schedule a pre-screening role for the Leukemia/BMT position. Before the talent acquisition person told me this news, he took time to elicit details to clarify my past application experience with Cleveland Clinic.
