When SkilledUp reached out to me to do my first podcast on how employer branding impacts your recruiting, I pounced at the opportunity to discuss a topic I was so passionate about. The company you work for has a huge impact on your future as a professional, and many people would say, your overall happiness. From another point of view, in an upward-trending job market, especially in the technology space, a company must do whatever they can to attract the top talent. Part of this is developing their brand as an employer, and part of that is who they hire to work for them and ultimately represent their product, values, and team. In this episode, we covered:
  • The college experience and how you are able to apply seemingly unrelated courses to your career
  • The professional journey and the skills you gather along the way
  • The definition of an employer brand, and what a good one looks like
  • The tricks to identifying an employer's brand as a job seeker
  • How employer branding affects who an employer chooses to hire
The interviewer Ander Frischer comes from a radio background, and I dabbled in reporting early in my career. As he set up the microphones in our Glassdoor conference room, I immediately felt the room fill with a buzz and energy. I forgot that we were even on air, and felt as though we were two people chatting about career choices and employer branding over a cup of coffee. Check out our engaging 20-minute podcast!
